Since Year 1 of this grant cycle, the Healthy Start TA & Support Center (TASC) has hosted several Healthy Start (HS) cohorts each year. HS Cohorts provide a space and place for 20-25 HS grantees to come together to:

  • Learn about what others are doing around a specific topic (e.g., Evaluation, Breastfeeding, CAN)
  • Engage and collaborate with one another
  • Document promising practices
  • Co-create tools and resources for the broader HS community
  • Connect with other HS staff across the country
  • Lift up and spread successful practices
  • Brainstorm solutions for common challenges

In the current iteration of cohorts, the TASC holds five cohort meetings over five months. To learn more about the structure of cohorts, participant expectations, and how cohorts differ from other TASC offerings, please view the Cohort Participant Guide here.

In Session Now: Fall 2022 Healthy Start Cohorts

The TASC is pleased to announce that the two fall 2022 Healthy Start cohorts – a Breastfeeding Cohort and a Community Engagement Cohort – are now in session. These cohorts will run from September 2022 through January 2023. Below are the goals of the two fall 2022 cohorts:

Breastfeeding Cohort

The goal of the Breastfeeding Cohort is to convene Healthy Start grantees to create shared best practices for promoting and supporting breastfeeding among Healthy Start consumers.

Community Engagement Cohort

The goal of the Community Engagement Cohort is to convene Healthy Start grantees to create shared best practices for connecting, engaging, and maintaining relationships with community partners.

Spring 2022 Cohorts

From January through May 2022, the Healthy Start TASC hosted four cohorts. The spring 2022 cohorts focused on four topics that aligned with the Healthy Start benchmarks and approaches, including Community Action Networks (CAN), Evaluation, Fatherhood, and Recruitment and Retention. The HS participants of each cohort worked together to select specific objectives to guide their work and created artifacts based on their discussions in the meetings and homework assignments in CoLab.
