Community Action Planning for Infant Health Equity in Healthy Start Communities:

An Upstream Approach for Shifting Social and Structural Determinants of Health to Improve Infant Health Equity (IHE)

Fall 2021, 21 Healthy Start grantees set out on an ambitious journey and committed to the challenge of developing action plans for their respective communities. Over five months, the Healthy Start TA & Support Center (TASC) – in partnership with the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) Division of Healthy Start and Perinatal Services (DHSPS) – provided guidance and ongoing support through training and technical assistance (TA). To enhance and strengthen programmatic offerings, the team incorporated a variety of engagement tools.

Methods of Training, Technical Assistance & Support included:

  • Webinars
  • Peer learning
  • Individual TA with a variety of subject matter experts
  • Community Action Planning Tool Kit
