Beginnings Guide

The Beginnings Guide is an easy to understand pregnancy and childcare guide developed to improve health literacy. Used in 6+ home visitation programs serving low-income, ethnically diverse pregnant women and new parents, the guide was found to lead to significant improvements in functional health literacy scores across three ethnic groups and all reading levels and age groups. The approach/curriculum includes regular assessments of health literacy and should be integrated into established home visit programs. The guides are available to order online.
