Co-Parenting Learning Academy Session 2

March 16, 2023 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

The Healthy Start TA & Support Center (TASC) is excited to announce the launch of the first-ever Co-Parenting Learning Academy! We are inviting back our Fatherhood Learning Academy Dean, Dr. Jeffrey Johnson, CEO of the National Partnership for Community Leadership (NPCL), to be the Dean for the Co-Parenting Learning Academy.

The goal of the Learning Academy is to examine the breadth and depth of social welfare policy in the 20th and 21st centuries while exploring the policies and practices that have influenced the focus on mothers and children and have excluded fathers from family support systems, and redefining “co-parenting” as it has been integrated into current MCH practices.

The learning objectives of the Co-Parenting Learning Academy will be the following:

  • Learn how social welfare policies have historically shaped maternal and child health and other family support services in the United States.
  • Acquire a better understanding of how co-parenting can be integrated into current MCH practices to potentially improve pregnancy, birth, and child outcomes.
  • Equip Healthy Start grantees and family support practitioners with teachings that will help them create community-based strategies that advance both fatherhood and co-parenting service approaches.
  • Explore various co-parenting and shared parenting models and their impact on children at different stages.
  • Learn ways to prepare and implement fatherhood and co-parenting services in Healthy Start programs for impact evaluation.

The Co-Parenting Learning Academy will meet on the third Thursday of each month from 3-4:30 p.m. ET from February through May. The second session was held on Thursday, March 16th. To view the session recording and materials, please visit the Co-Parenting Learning Academy page
